Coffee & Cocktails - San Antonio Texas - The Jewel
Thursday, August 19, 2021 San Antonio, TX, USA
Hey Babes! This past weekend was one for the books! One of my long-time friends Paulina came to San Antonio to visit. It has been about 2-3 years since we have last seen each other. I was excited about her arrival so I couldn't help but want to take her around all the beautiful spots in SATX!
We did, however, ended up staying at this cute, historic, good vibes coffee shop/bar in the heart of the South Town district connected to King Williams!
Location: The Jewel SA at 1102 South Alamo St.
We arrived at about 1pm and had our second coffee of the day.
Order: A cold brew with a splash of cinnamon vanilla syrup and macadamia milk!
10/10 recommend :D It was my first time trying this combo and I loved it!
I invited some of my girls to join us and man did it become a PARTY! We overstayed our stay at this gorgeous spot! From cocktails, to live music laughs, and more we ended up ordering food from next door and enjoyed at this cute spot!
I absolutely love that Aaron, one of the owners showed not only incredible hospitality but also supports other small businesses around him. It was nice to see a community in this sweet neighborhood. Makes me only want to support all these small businesses more and more.
For drinks we had,
Mimosas - Always yummy
& the Pineapple Martini 10/10 (New drink on the menu and I LOVE!)
Fun Fact: There is brunch on the weekends here so I def recommend stopping by to enjoy the ambiance.
Also, there are so many regulars on weekdays working remotely from the shop. If you are also working from home, I recommend coming early in the morning, grabbing a seat while enjoying a delicious coffee in a spot that makes you feel RIGHT AT HOME.
We took so many photos, and had a blast doing so! This spot is so insta worthy... every corner is stunning!
I edited all my images with my presets which you can find here, Jazz Exploring Presets :D
I used the ATX preset pack for these.

I had my first group interview for a teaching position and while other were getting emails for a second interview I sat down alone refreshing my email for something that never came in. I knew adult life sucked and that not everyone would just say "YES! We want you." but, at the same time I felt a little sad. One... it's at a school I really enjoy so that was a bust but secondly I don't know if it's because of my personality? You know sometimes people just don't click with you and when they don't they put you aside without knowing who you really are and what you are capable of.
Surprisingly, I didn't cry. I thought with the heartache I have been facing I would have at least shed a tear but NOPE! I didn't cry and I definitely don't feel "sorry" for myself. The disappointment I feel is towards how job interviews are conducted now a days. There seems to be no more what have you done? what can you do? what drives you? are you willing to learn? NO. Instead people ask for years of experience even when they clearly know some of us have just graduated ANNOYING am I right? Some look for those who can answer best on the spot, who kisses butt, and who they see that "looks" the part... and to me well, that is disappointing.
I know no great place is a great place without great people... so I have come to an understanding that maybe I just wasn't the right fit for the spot. Instead of crying and feeling sorry for myself I decided to remain positive because I am a true believer that everything happens for a reason. If something is for you it will be for you and if it's not, it simply won't no matter how much you seem to want it. Doesn't mean not getting the job doesn't suck, it just means that we must live, learn, and move on to the next adventure.
Maybe I am suppose to focus on my passions and on my blog? Maybe I should push my small photography business until I have passed all my state exams and am ready to start my teaching journey? Maybe big blessings are coming and I am not seeing that God is working wonders for the future... my future? I don't know if any of you have been through something like this... if you have I encourage you to take the high road, to smile, and remember God is always working! We may not get that first time big break but we will get the next one or the next. You are worth it my friend and the right job, with the right people, will come! Patience, positivity, and persistence is key!

Enjoy EVERY moment
Look for FREE food and Swag gear
Your girl learned real quick about going to events to not only have a good time but for the FREE FOOD and the FREE T-SHIRTS Freshmen year you ask? 36 T-shirts and they were all free :p
Swear it's the best when you don't have to buy anything! As for food my friends and I would text each other every time there was food :p group texts would blow up because who doesn't love FREE food?
DON'T be Afraid to be YOU
Get out of your comfort zone and let loose. You may have the time of your life!
I use to be so scared of being the dork I am but I learned not to care and it's seriously the greatest thing ever!
Build relationships
I met so many people and made so many "friends" but now have learned the ones that last are the ones you build and it's hard to focus on so many people all at once. Build relationships with those you love and appreciate the most.
Take it slow
Don't rush through college. Take your time you only complete your bachelors once and let me say it passes by way too quick so take your time. I find my friends and I always saying we can't wait to graduate and be done and now I am crying cause I don't want it to be done!
Document memories
Not everything has to be documented some of the best things happen when no one is watching but when you get the chance document those memories so you always have something to look back at.
Work hard and network
One of my favorite things about college has been networking! Going to events and out of town conferences are the best thing yet! The opportunity to travel and meet other while potentially securing a job is so fun and rewarding! People don't come and tell you DO THIS you have to do a lot of this on your own once you find what is is you want to do others are more than happy to assist you with accomplishing your goal.
Know it is not the end of the world
Bad days are bond to happen, it's just the way life works... You have so days you wish you could relive and others were you wish never happened, but it's not the end of the world. We all learn through experiences if we need go through rough times do we ever learn? My answer is NOPE. I have learned that I learn about myself and others by the way they handle situations... sometimes we overreact and that's okay we are learning.

STUDY ON TIME
Make time for the ones you love
No matter how crazy your schedule is make time for the ones you love even if it's just a phone call at the end of your day. Remember relationships take work and in order to keep up with you people you have to put your part.

And MOST important of all
Love and forgive yourself
Love and respect yourself, give yourself time to breath and hear your own thoughts as well as forgive yourself for things you may regret. It all gets better with time!
oh, let's not forget..

I wish you all the best of luck, enjoy your experience no matter what phase you are in right this second... make a bucket list sheet for yourself every semester and try to accomplish your goals big and small.
Sending ya'll my love
Jaslyn
