Staycation at The Westin Riverwalk Hotel

Wednesday, August 26, 2020 420 W Market St, San Antonio, TX 78205, USA

Hello :) I hope you are doing well on this gorgeous morning. Jose (my boyfriend) and I had the most amazing staycation at The Westin Riverwalk Hotel in our beautiful city of San Antonio. It has been such a long time since we have had a getaway and it was great to do it right here. It is truly amazing how a change of scenery can make you feel like you are in a whole new world. Even if we are from San Antonio the experience felt like we were somewhere else.

We checked in to our room at about 2:15pm On Friday and were greeted so kindly by the Valet and front desk staff. Their hospitality was off the charts. We instantly felt the love and kindness of everyone at this Hotel. Checking in was simple and easy, they had COVID guidelines throughout the hotel in which guests are required to wear their masks indoors. As we made our way up to the 14th floor we were in complete aww with our corner suite. Once we got settled in we made our way down and got an amazing tour by the sweetest person! Tracy Jacaman-Ligarde. She was awesome! Her presence instantly made us feel at home.

Each room is so gorgeous no matter where they are located around the hotel.  The views are truly stunning! When you are looking into booking you have the choice between the river view or city view. We had a little bit of both and it did not disappoint. Jose and I loved watching both the sunrise and set from our hotel room... which has two balconies! I don't know why but I think it's the coolest thing! The rooms have also been newly renovated and look stunning! So many new features have been added to make guest feel like they are at their home away from home. Apart from beautiful, the hotel is doing an amazing job to keep the rooms clean for their guests. Once guests check out, the room is cleaned not just once but twice and inspected a third time. The room is then not used for another 48 hours. So you can jump on the bed upon arrival like I did knowing you are in a safe space. :D

We watched movies, took bubble baths, and relaxed by the pool (pool time is also upon reservation for 1.5 hours) After each session the pool area is sanitized for the next round of guests. :) We loved exploring our city but apart of us also wanted to just stay at the hotel to enjoy every second we could.

During our weekend stay, we ate at some of the most amazing places. For dinner Friday we went to the Iron Cactus which is about a 4-minute walk from the hotel. Since it was a new place, I asked our Server for his recommendations and he did not disappoint. If you go anytime soon, our servers name was Frank and he was amazing!

 Dinner at the Iron Cactus

What we ordered:

Appetizer: Crab-Stuffed Jalapeños

Drinks: El Pepino, Prickly Pear, Old Fashion, and Horchata

Dinner:  Pollo Relleno  & Chile Relleno Rústico

Dessert: Mexican Donuts & Tres Leches

We fell in love with every bite and every drink! The amazing service was definitely the cherry on top!

We will be back for more! :D

Breakfast at The Guenther House

Early Saturday morning we headed to have Breakfast at The Guenther House which is only a 10min drive but if you are walkers it's only a 20min walk! We would have loved to walk but this girl took a little longer to get ready and we were running a little behind on our reservation time.  :p

What we ordered:

Drinks: Founders Choice coffee

Breakfast:  Chicken and sweet cream waffle with a side of egg & 1851 breakfast platter with a side of pancakes

We had been to the Guenther House plenty times before and they never fail to amaze us! We love the food as much as we love the service. We also ordered some jelly, cookies, pancake & waffle mix to go! You can also order online and make this delicious food from the comfort of your home. :D Shout out to Donna Vaughan who treated us so kindly. We got an insight to all the history of the magical Guenther House. We can't wait to be back, especially during Christmas time, which I heard is darling!

After we ate at Guenther house and the rain went away we hit up Six Flags but only for while. We enjoyed the rides & our favorite Frozen Lemonade along with delicious street corn! We could have spent the whole day here but we were so anxious to get back to the hotel. The Park itself did a great job of spreading out guests on the rides but because of the extra safety measures wait time for rides was a lot longer than usual. If you are up for the wait times we still 10/10 recommend visiting the park (weekdays might be better than weekends) (:

For Dinner Jose and I made our way to the Historic Pearl which is about a 10min drive from the hotel to grab some Ramen from the foodcourt, We waited for our food outside and went back to the hotel to enjoy dinner with a movie :)

To end the night we went to have a relaxing swim. It was absolutely amazing! We loved seeing the stars in the night sky as well as the gorgeous view from the pool.

Sunday morning we hit up Cafecito which is located in the lobby area of the hotel. We enjoyed our coffee & breakfast croissants while watching TV in our room before check out. I have to say I was 110% not ready to leave this gorgeous place! We also enjoyed a nice early morning swim while we watched the sun rise. It was beautiful!

Jose was caught off guard on the picture down below... we were suppose to take a cute picture but a pillow fight is what ended up happening. Sorry, my love! :p
Overall we had the most incredible time! We are so happy we were able to escape from our day to day life without having to travel anywhere far. Just a 25min drive to our very own Downtown area. This truly was the perfect Escape. 10/10 recommend your treat yourself to a Staycation and if you don't know where...
The Westin at the Riverwalk is the perfect spot!
I hope you have enjoyed this blog and I hope you start planning your STAYCATION  because YOU DESERVE IT! :D
Sending you all my love and virtual hugs! xO Jazzexploring
